Thames Valley Police successfully completed its latest traffic incident management training sessions at Westcott on 27th September and 11th October, utilising our purpose-built drone runway as the training facility.
The specialist training programme equips police officers with the critical skills needed for safely deploying traffic control equipment on busy roads during incidents.
This Safer Policing on Dual Carriageways training is essential for ensuring officers can quickly and safely establish traffic management zones around accident scenes, breakdowns, and other roadway incidents whilst minimising risk to themselves, other emergency responders, and the travelling public.
The drone runway provides an exceptional training environment, offering a controlled road surface away from public traffic.
Thames Valley Police have maintained a strong presence at Westcott for several years, regularly conducting various training exercises beyond traffic management. The force also utilises the facility for specialist dog training sessions, where police dogs learn to tackle criminals, detect contraband, and track missing persons across the site's diverse terrain.
John Westwood, Operations Director said: "We have an excellent working relationship with Thames Valley Police and are delighted to support their vital training programmes.
"Our facilities provide the perfect environment for this type of specialist training, and it's rewarding to know we're helping to enhance the skills that keep our communities safe."
The collaboration reflects Westcott's growing role as a hub for emergency services training. Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service have established their Urban Search and Rescue team base in Building 350, making the park home to two critical emergency services.
